1. About Leksio
Leksio is an independent personal project. In this policy, “Leksio”, “we”, and “us” refer to the person who runs the project.

2. This public website
This version of the Leksio website does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, contact forms, or non-essential cookies. The web server and content-delivery systems may still process ordinary technical logs, including IP addresses, requested paths, browser details, timestamps, and error information. These logs help deliver and protect the site and diagnose failures.
3. Information handled by the mobile app
Account and sign-in information
Sign-in is provided through Auth0. Auth0 may process your login identifier and basic profile information, such as name and email address, depending on the sign-in method you choose. If you use Google sign-in, Google also processes that authentication. Leksio’s backend associates your learning data with a pseudonymous internal identity derived from the Auth0 issuer and account identifier; it does not use your password.
Practice and product activity
We store the words and decks you practise, recall ratings such as Again, Hard, Good, and Easy, review timing and progress, and related activity needed to calculate your next review. We also store app settings, dismissed practice cards, and card problem reports that you submit.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, we process a device push token, notification preferences, review-pile eligibility, and delivery or receipt records. Notification permission is optional and can be changed in the app or your device settings.
Support and security information
If you contact us, we process the message and contact details you provide so we can respond. Our services also create ordinary security and diagnostic logs, which may include IP address, request metadata, identifiers, timestamps, and error details.
4. Why we use information
We use the information described above to:
- authenticate your account and keep your learning history connected to it;
- deliver practice, calculate adaptive review timing, and save your settings;
- send optional reminders you have enabled;
- investigate content reports, provide support, and improve reliability;
- protect Leksio, prevent misuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Where applicable, we rely on performance of the service you request, your consent for optional device notifications, legitimate interests in operating and securing Leksio, and legal obligations. The basis can differ by activity and jurisdiction.
5. Service providers and transfers
We use specialist providers to operate Leksio, including:
- Auth0 for account authentication, with Google involved if you choose Google sign-in;
- Expo to route optional push notifications to your device;
- Amazon Web Services for hosting, storage, and content delivery.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices and may process it in countries outside your own. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for international transfers. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
6. Retention
Account and learning information is generally kept while your account is active and as needed to provide Leksio. The detailed retention and backup-deletion periods are while your account is active and for up to 12 months after account deletion, with backup copies removed within 90 days . We may retain limited information longer where necessary for security, dispute resolution, or a legal duty.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing; receive a portable copy of information; and withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
You can turn notifications off in the app or device settings. To delete your account, open Profile in Leksio and use Danger Zone. If you can no longer access the app, use the account-deletion support instructions. We may need to verify that you control the account before acting on a support request.
8. Security and changes
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy when the product, providers, or law changes. A revised policy will show a new effective date on this page.
