Terms of Use

The terms that apply when you use the Leksio mobile app and public website. Effective date: 15 August 2026 .

1. Agreement and project

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Leksio, an independent personal project. By creating an account or using Leksio, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Your account

You are responsible for information submitted through your account, for keeping access to your sign-in method secure, and for telling us promptly if you believe the account has been compromised. Account access is provided through third-party authentication services.

3. Personal use

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Leksio for your personal language learning, subject to these terms. You may not sell, sublicense, copy in bulk, reverse engineer, or exploit the service except where applicable law expressly permits it.

4. Learning-content limitations

Leksio supports vocabulary recall; it is not a complete language course, certified translation service, or professional adviser. Example sentences and translations can be incomplete, context-dependent, or mistaken. Do not rely on Leksio alone for medical care, emergencies, government deadlines, legal rights, employment decisions, financial matters, or other high-consequence situations. Ask a qualified person or official source when accuracy matters.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • break the law, infringe another person’s rights, or submit unlawful or abusive content;
  • interfere with, overload, probe, or bypass the security of Leksio or another account;
  • use automated means to extract substantial content or access non-public interfaces;
  • misrepresent your identity or use the service to distribute malware or spam.

6. Intellectual property

Leksio and its software, visual identity, vocabulary collections, illustrations, audio, and other content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property law. These terms do not transfer ownership to you. You retain rights in feedback or report text you submit, while allowing us to use it to operate, support, and improve the service.

7. Third-party services

Leksio relies on third parties for functions such as authentication, app distribution, hosting, content delivery, and notifications. Their own terms and privacy notices may apply. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

8. Availability, changes, and termination

We may maintain, change, suspend, or discontinue features, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We may restrict or end access if you materially breach these terms, create risk or harm, or if we must do so for legal or operational reasons. You may stop using Leksio at any time and may request deletion through the account-deletion page.

10. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by Dutch law. This does not take away any mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer law. Any dispute will be decided by the court with jurisdiction under applicable law.

Questions about these terms can be sent to support@leksio.app.
